Interview w/ Brian Allen of Confederation of Noisemakers

If you’ve never met Brian Allen, creator of the Confederation of Noisemakers web site, then chances are you’ve at least heard him pound the skins in one of the many Augusta bands he’s been involved with over the years. Neato Torpedo, Mary Jane Jones, Ghost Script, Turtleneck, Hellblinki Sextet, and most recently Joe Graves & [...]

Interview w/ Cam of the Velcro Pygmies

First off, if you’ve never seen the Velcro Pygmies live, you don’t know what you’re missing. Imagine the ultimate rock and roll party complete with games and party favors and you may come close. We’re talking New Year’s and the Fourth of July all wrapped up in a dirty rock and roll sandwich. [...]

Interview w/ Shotgun Opera

Shotgun Opera is a relatively new band that defies easy description. With songs titles like “Suffering” and “Razorblade” it would be easy to imagine a gang of tortured souls but in all reality Shotgun Opera is made up of six fun-loving guys who look to each other as much as family as a band. Although [...]

Interview w/ Eddie Smith of Mad Margritt

Atlanta hard rock band Mad Margritt has consistently visited the Augusta area so often over the past ten years or so that they’ve played more shows in the area than some lokal bands. Armed with five releases as well as tracks on two international compilations, this four piece energetic band has more to offer a party crowd than just a huge catalog of 80’s and early 90’s hard rock and glam covers. Mad Madgritt is a fun-loving group of guys that have shared the stage with many of their heroes including Kiss, Poison, Skid Row, Cinderella and even Ratt right here in Augusta at the Jesse Norman Ampitheater. Moments surely not afforded mere cover or tribute bands. Mad Margritt has built up a love affair with fans in Augusta and it’s reflected in the energy between band and audience each and every time they visit Augusta. Lokal Loudness talked to frontman Eddie Smith about Mad Margritt and their history with the CSRA.

Interview w/ Will McCranie

Armed with a new ep release and his second Lokal Loudness Music Choice Award for Favorite Solo Artist Will McCranie has all the pieces in place to make a huge mark on the Augusta music scene. Instead, the young singer-songwriter has decided to take all those pieces to help himself find a place in congested music mecca New York City. What will his new future hold? Lokal Loudness talked with “Willie Mac” to find out.

Interview w/ Hurt

With a sound that infiltrates modern hard rock stylings with the textures of layered strings and harmonies Los Angeles band Hurt are far from being this year’s drop-d darlings. Singer J. Loren, drummer Evan Johns, bassist Josh Ansley and guitarist Paul Spatola are a driven band willing to take the path less traveled if need be to get their music to the ears of the public. Hot meals and solid ground be damned: Hurt is on a mission…a Mission that brings the band to the Red Lion Pub on February 2nd with Stereoside and Hot Lava Monster.

Interview w/ The Radar Cinema

With band members scattered on opposite ends of the state and a sound that defies simple explanation, progressive rock band The Radar Cinema are hardly your typical area club band. Featuring drummer Eric Parton (ex-Daze of Haze & The Company), bassist Nick Laws (ex-The Sixth Hour & Autorock), guitarist Will Duckworth and vocalist Mikel Hutchings, this quartet’s mix of experience, ingenuity and heavy work ethic make them one of the bands to watch in 2008.

Interview w/ Dirty Sons of Ireland

It’s no big surprise that St. Patty’s Day is one of the biggest party celebration days of the year even on par, if not more widespread, with Mardi gras. Who over the years have been able to define the word party like the Irish combining tradition, sing-a-longs and a never-ending supply of spirit? Why do [...]

Interview w/ S Band

With a colorful blend of art and rock the Augusta band simply known as “S” have painted a rock and roll picture on the area music scene that is part fun, part introspective and all rock. During two decades of mainstream musical self-loathing painter/guitarist/singer Billy S has refused to cave in keeping the “Happy to [...]

Interview w/ Jessica King

When Jessica King sings she sings from the soul. At an age when most gals are consumed with shopping and getting ready for their learners permit King was already a fixture on the Atlanta music scene. A tryout for Lilith Fair and a relocation later this singer-songwriter is belting out for Augusta music fans.
