HONEY I’M HOME – THE PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE OF LOKAL LOUDNESS IN THE COMMUNITY.

Since the very first issue of Lokal Loudness hit over fifteen years ago our mission has been about two very important things: supporting lokal and regional independent artists and doing our part to support area charities and organizations, particularly those dedicated to the future of our city’s youth.

Since 1994, Lokal Loudness has presented one of the areas longest running events, the Kevin Brown Rocking the Stocking Benefit Concert, which until 2004 lent it’s fund raising efforts to support the Empty Stocking Fund.

In 2001 a small seed was planted with the help of Coco Rubio of Soul Bar Productions and Chuck Williams of 95 Rock and the 12 Bands of Christmas was born. Since that first event, Mr. Rubio, with the help of Joe Stevenson and Ruskin Yeargain, has turned the now annual concert AND cd into the holidays premiere fund raising event. Starting in 2005, Rocking the Stocking will benefit the great new organization KID’S RESTART.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

In addition to the fun charity shows Lokal Loudness organizes and supports each year, there are also events where Lokal Loudness works together with other organizations such as the Metro Spirit to recognize those within our special music community. Since 1995 Lokal Loudness has given out awards to lokal musicians and artists but it wasn’t until 2002 on our 10th anniversary that Lokal Loudness created the Music Choice Awards. The “Loudies” or “Stoney’s” as coined by radio vet Chuck Williams of 95 Rock, are voted on by the general public the last three months of each year and presented at the awards show the following February. It has become one of the most anticipated lokal music shows each year.
