February is annually recognized as Black History Month all across the U.S. and while University’s and schools across the nation have made great strides to recognize African American history for its vital role in the overall history of the nation through course study, Black History Month continues to enlighten the public about the long important history of blacks in American.

Without a doubt our very own James Brown is an icon, not only musically but culturally and not only to African Americans buts people from all walks of life across the world.

This February Lokal Loudness will give you a chance to share in Black History Month by helping us recognize The Godfather James Brown and what he meant to ALL people.  In the process you can win some cool James Brown swag as well including a cool live concert DVD, a CD, and a special surprise collectors item.

All you have to do to enter is take a picture of yourself with the James Brown statue located in the center median on Broad Street.  It can be just you alone, with a group of friends, hanging out with family, whatever. Then all you have to do is email us your picture to moc.ssenduollakolnull@ofni along with the name of the person who took the photo.  Photos will be posted on Lokal Loudness during the month of February and in March one lucky photo will be deemed the coolest of the bunch!
