What do you get when you mix muscle cars, hot tattooed chicks, and some kick ass rock & roll?  Well in the case of this past Fridays Hot Rods / Pretty Things Peepshow at the Loft, you get a hot night in Augusta, Georgia!

Starting with two separate lines trying to get in, over 300 people spurned on by weeks of bombastic promotion crammed into the downtown venue with the majority piled in around the stage to witness as different a show as has possibly ever been in Augusta.  Sure there’s nothing amazingly new and different about Atlanta band The Hot Rods unless you count the fact that musically Augusta has not been exposed to such a rollicking punky rock-a-billy romp since the demise of Augusta faves The Shark DeVilles.  It was rock & roll the way many of us remember it.  Loud, sweaty, rebellious and most of all fun!  The energy kicked into super overdrive when the crowd belted out their prideful appreciation as hometown boys Fred Mcneal (guitar) and Patrick Turner (drums) were introduced.  Mug, vocalist and all around ball of energy, found his way onto just about anything that would hold his tall skinny frame.  The V.I.P. tables, the bar, some stools, all while the band ripped through songs with titles like “Sorority Girl”, “Strange”, “Big V-8″ and “I’m a rebel.”

Now what would a true old fashioned red-blooded American rock & roll show be without women and tattoos?  What about women with tattoos?  What about women with tattoos wearing next to nothing doing all sorts of crazy things while tossing out a whole pile of one-liners?  That was the Pretty Things Peepshow and a whole lot more!  Anytime you can check out a hot gal with ink on her face drive a long nail down her nostril?  THAT’s rock & roll!

The only thing that could have made this show anymore rock & roll would be if Pabst Blue Ribbon had sponsored it!
