Yes folks, it’s that time of year again. Time when the Augusta Chronicle presents a mixed array of singer-songwriter hopefuls looking to catch your ear in hopes of being voted one of three acts to grace the stage of the Sixth Annual Singer-Songwriter Contest finals on September 19th at this years Arts in the Heart of Augusta, which will be held in conjuction with this fall’s first ever Westobou festival. Three additional “critics choice” acts will also be chosen for a grand total of six.
Many submitted tracks, everything from folk to jazz to r&b to county and more, and for the next month you can go to the Augusta Chronicle website, listen to each track, and vote for your favorite. Half of the finalists will walk away with a prize! Third place picks up $100, second place $200, and the act that walks away the crowned singer-songwriter champ of 2008 will get $400 and a whopping box of various CDs! (So bands, if you tought those promo cds you were sending in for review were merely getting tossed after careful inspection…think again!)
Paper ballots must be cut out of the Augusta Chronicle (originals only) and snail-mailed to Steven Uhles, 725 Broad St., Augusta, GA 30901. Ballots must be received no later 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5.
Web junkies can vote online once a day through 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5.
