Godfather Tribute Ready to Make It Funky

As updates on May’s Augusta tribute to James Brown continue to trickle in, it appears that the musical tribute “Payback (Celebrate James Brown)” will be as musically diverse as the artists the Godfather influenced. Artists such as jazz master Branford Marsalis, area Gospel legends the Suwanee Quintet, singer-songwriter Greg Hester, alt. rockers Modern Skirts, classic rock legends the Doobie Brothers and Brown’s own funky backing band the Soul Generals will perform at the all day festival at the Augusta Common on Brown’s birthday on May 3rd.

Ticket for this special event are set to go on sale fo $30 and includes admission to The Godfather of Soul: Mr. James Brown exhibition at the Augusta History Museum. Admission to the exhibit only are set at $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, $2 for children 6-18, and is free for children 5 and younger.
